History of Woodlawn Academy, High School, Intermediate Pursued
A history of the school that was the site of the first vocational agriculture class in the nation, Woodlawn High School, has been created in a PowerPoint screen show by a former graduate, Shirley Harmon Steele. Shirley will speak to any organization or class reunion that has an interest in learning about this topic.
A historic marker for the highway has been approved and will be funded by graduates of the 1956 Woodlawn High Class. James Branscome, class of 1956, completed the paperwork to get this accomplished, using research completed by Shirley Steele, Class of ’59. There will also be an effort to get the agriculture building in the historic register. Anyone who is interested in helping with this effort, please contact Shirley Steele at 728-7100.
