
Under the heading of Natural History, the Historical Society seeks to gather descriptions of Carroll County’s distinct:
Climate — Flora — Fauna — Geography — Geology
Significant weather events, the Galax leaf and wildflowers, forestry composition, wildlife inventory, water courses, the Devil’s Den cave, the scenic beauty, the minerals found here, the fishing and hunting opportunities…the blight of the American Chestnut, the invasions of the Gypsy Moth and Wooly Algid along with recovery and intervention efforts are topics of this category. The Museum resources include photographs, file folders, text books, maps, and taxidermy specimens.
